SUMMARY:Date with Death Club
DESCRIPTION:Date with Death Club: Exploring Mortality in Community \nPerhaps you are one of the many humans seeking to explore mortality in community and to do so with less fear and more curiosity; with less euphemism and more reality; with less conformity and more creativity. If so\, welcome to Date with Death Club facilitated by Babs Allen and Terina Carter. \nDate with Death Club is a secular/non-dogmatic exploration of mortality in community\, including philosophical/spiritual and informational/logistical content\, with a balance of humor and earnest regard for the topic of mortality. This program provides a safe[r] and brave[r] space to explore the often-taboo topic of our mortality. This program aspires to cultivate the possibility of living a more awake life by facing the reality of our death. \nWhen taken as a whole\, sessions provide concrete information and the chance to deepen self- awareness and strengthen emotional resilience. While each of the sessions stands on its own\, supporting drop-in participation\, all sessions complement each other\, supporting the cultivation of connection and community among participants. More frequent attendance will provide deepening interpersonal connection and personal understanding. \nWe’ll meet at the church from 9:00-11:00 on the first Saturday of each month. No registration necessary. Friends from the community are also welcome. \nMarch 4 – Getting Comfortable with Death Talk \nApril 1 – Afterlife/Afterlives \nMay 6 – Aging: Better than the Alternative \nJune 3 – Death\, Dying\, and Poetry \nJuly 1 – Extinction Fears: Processing Eco-Grief \nAugust 5 – Good Life and Good Death \nSeptember 2 – Grief: Loving and Losing\, Learning and Living \nOctober 7 – Hospice\, Palliative Care\, and End of Life Documents Oh My! \nNovember 4 – Medical Aid in Dying/Death with Dignity \nDecember 2 – Owning Your Dying \nJanuary 6 – Planning Your Own Funeral\, Memorial\, or Celebration of Life Service; Writing Your Own Obituary \nFebruary 3 – Resistance and Acceptance: The Mortal Dance \nMarch 2 – What to do with a Dead Body
