This fall we will journey together writing a new Vision and Mission statement for our church. UU churches reflect on their guiding statements as congregational generations change and members ask themselves why do we gather together and why do we matter.

A Vision statement is “a carefully defined picture of where the congregation wants to be in five or more years. It is the dream of what the congregation can become in alignment with their “vow with the Universe.” Our Vision is where we want to go, what world do we want to live in?

A Mission statement is “a concise statement of the congregation’s core purpose. What the congregation wants to be known for, or known as, within the wider world? What the congregation wants to mean to the community.” Our Mission is our path, what we do, how we nurture the world we envision.

Working together on defining our church community will strengthen our purpose and offer intentional guideposts we can look to when showing up on Sundays or any day in the community. The people, our values, our hopes and dreams, are who define these statements. Stay tuned for all the ways you can learn, share, and build our Vision and Mission.
