Pastoral care is confidential, compassionate listening for people who are struggling.

A person might seek pastoral care when they are facing major life transitions like the death of a loved one, divorce, job loss, financial strain, and chronic or terminal illness. Other reasons might be wanting to have conversations about spirituality or needing to talk about a difficult and longstanding circumstance.

Pastoral care is not therapy, and Rev. Rebecca (or a Pastoral Care Associate) will not generally offer advice or problem-solving.  Their job is to listen with compassion, ask meaningful questions, and offer gentle care.

What is a Pastoral Care Associate?

Pastoral Care Associates are church members who have been specially trained by our minister to offer pastoral care.

Our Pastoral Care Associates work closely with Rev. Rebecca and meet with her monthly for advising and continuing education. Each person was chosen or recommended because of their long-term commitment to our ministries, and their ability to listen and to be present. This is their ministry.

If you need some pastoral care, the first step is to contact Rev. Rebecca for a conversation about your needs. If your needs are ongoing, she will match you with a Pastoral Care Associate for ongoing care.
