Membership Support and Development Committees

Caring
The purpose of the Caring Committee is to coordinate and enable Church people to help one another in time of need as a reflection of our care and concern for our membership. Among its responsibilities are to:
- Organize and offer home and hospital visits, emergency child care, food preparation and transportation in time of need
- Communicate by notes, cards and telephone with members of the congregation
- Maintain a file of people offering the above services
- Keep the Minister informed of members' needs for these services
- Provide refreshments following Memorial Services at Church
Fellowship
The purpose of the Fellowship Committee is to foster the spirit of fellowship by sponsoring activities to meet the social needs of the congregation. Among its responsibilities are to:
- Provide supplies for the coffee hour that follows Sunday services
- Provide refreshments following special Church services, i.e., cookies and Wassail following Christmas Eve services
- Plan and coordinate potluck dinners to celebrate the beginning of the Church year and the end of the Church year
- Plan and coordinate holiday parties, i.e., Halloween Party, Thanksgiving dinner, New Year's Eve celebration
- Host a variety of additional theme events just for the fun of it
- Promote events by putting written notices in the Church Newsletter and by announcing congregational events during Church services
Membership
The purpose of the Membership Committee is to enhance the quality of Church life by promoting involvement of members in Church affairs. Among its responsibilities are to:
- Revise the Membership Directory (Blue Book) every year
- Recruit and schedule Greeters for Sunday Services
- Provide instructions and supplies for greeters and ushers
- Maintain and update information packets for new members
- Review the name tag Board, adding and replacing name tags as necessary
- Plan new member recognition events
- Develop, implement and evaluate programs to recruit, assimilate and retain members
- Cooperate with the Treasurer to maintain a current membership roster
Outreach
The purpose of the Outreach Committee is raise Community awareness about the existence, ministries, and activities of the Congregation. The Committee may use a variety of media: newspaper, radio, or television advertising; signage; and a congregational Web site.
