Greetings! On behalf of the congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington-Normal, I welcome you to our congregational website. We are an intentional covenanting community that promotes the free expression of liberal religious values in central Illinois. We believe in the dignity and worth of each individual, the use of the democratic method in our governance, and the responsible search by individuals for their religious truths. We further believe that our faith calls us to promote social justice in the wider community. Our Church supports community involvement, and is dedicated to progressive religious values, peace, justice, and social equity For those of you who may be looking for a spiritual home, we offer a diverse religious community that encourages a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. Unitarian Universalism has developed over the centuries, from roots in the Judeo-Christian tradition, and continues to evolve, drawing on many religions, philosophies and cultures. We do not have a single dogma or creed to which you must subscribe, and suggest instead that you are responsible for building your own theology. Our religious education program for adults and children is structured to help you and your family in this life-long task. We welcome all who come with open minds and loving hearts and celebrate the richness that diversity of theology, color, sexual orientation, and age brings to our lives. If you find yourself in agreement with our purposes and with the religious freedom we practice for our children and ourselves, we invite you to join this church and add your strength to ours.
