Planning CommitteesHistoryThe purpose of the History Committee is to retain memory of the development of our Church and its members. Among its responsibilities are to:
At present, the primary focus of the History Committee is updating the history of the Unitarian Universalist Church from 1974 to 2009, the sesquicentennial year of the Church. The History Committee is periodically active, primarily in response to Church members' interests as they arise. NominatingThe Church Constitution Article IX requires that a Nominating Committee of five voting Church members be elected annually for terms concurrent with those of the Board officers and with the fiscal year. The purpose of the Committee is to nominate candidates for Board offices, Board membership, Trustees and the Committee's own successors. The Committee recommends a slate of nominees to the congregation for approval at the congregational meeting in December. The names of the nominees are published as part of the congregational meeting agenda at least ten days before the meeting. In the case of mid-term vacancies, the Committee will select at least two candidates for the position. The Board of Directors will then select a replacement from among the candidates. Nominating Committee duties include:
Strategic PlanningThe purpose of the Strategic Planning Committee is to develop, annually review, and update strategic and long-range plans. The Strategic Plan includes Church Vision and Mission statements and general strategy statements of how to fulfill both vision and mission. The Long Range Plan consists of specific concrete steps to meet the future needs of the Church in facilities, staffing, and programming. The Committee will develop projections of Church growth and needs for successive phases of 10, 20, and 30 years. To this purpose, the Committee will maintain a record of information regarding Church growth and program. The integrated plans will be annually reviewed, updated as needed in light of changing conditions, and a report will be made to the Board of Directors in an annual retreat organized by the Committee. The Committee will be composed of a minimum of five members appointed by the Board of Directors, two of which will be members of the Board. Responsibilities of the Committee include
